What Is This?

TeamSense is an attendance tracking system that will helps us improve communication between management and employees in general and specificially regarding attendance.

It allows the team to call off via text, see your attendance record, receive sms blast messages for important communicaiton, and allows management to more easily track attendance.

Why are we doing this?

The call off process has long been a pain point for both employess and managers. Employees have trouble reaching the manager by phone or text and managers have trouble keeping up with the calls and texts and tracking absences. Also the conversation can be awkward and difficult to manage productively on both ends. TeamSense helps with 3 things:


1) Make it easier to call off work. It can be hard to reach the restaurant. No more awkward conversations with the manager. You simply text “off” to the system and complete the form to let us know you will not be there or if you are running late.

2) Easily and more accurately track attendance. By documenting your tardiness and absences yourself it saves time for managers and allows them good data to provide coaching and accountability.

3) Create transparency about your conduct status. You will have access to your attendance record of compliance. This way you are not blindsided if managment approaches you regarding attendance.

  • No, all such calls will be directed to use the system.

  • Teamsense can be used to let us know. Just select tardy when you complete the form.

  • If you leave a shift early without finding a cover for the shift you will need to use Teamsense to document your early departure. If you volunteered to leave early and the manager approved you do not need to document it at all. Document all absences, tardiness, and early departures due to being unable or unwilling to complete a shift.

  • Failure to notify managment will be considered a NoCallNoShow. We will document it in the system. If you arrive late or leave early you can document using teamsense before clocking in or leaving.

  • The TeamSense system uses “points” to track attendance. Each point corresponds to an absence. Our official policy simply states that “excessive” absences are subject to disciplinary action. The points are a guide to the type of action that may apply to based on the severity of attendance problems.

    One point = one absence

    Three Tardys = one absence

    All incidents fall off after 60 days

  • The points system helps to track excessive absensces and the typical progressive disciplinary actions based on the handbook policy. However each case will be reviewed before disciplinary action is taken. We are trying to promote transparency. Steven or Will or Dom will be happy to connect regarding your specific situation. As we are just rolling this system out you might be concerned about immediate disciplinary action if you have a high point count. We will be proactively approaching anyone with a high point count and working with you on it. It does not mean that immediate action will be taken as we will be looking at each situation on a case by case basis.
